City Map: Space Reshape · Shanghai
At present, a new round of development and renewal is taking place in the space of the old city in our country. Industrial plants in the 40s and 50s, old buildings and unfinished buildings in the 70s and 80s provided new opportunities for the redevelopment of the old city space. And these new opportunities have also brought new and diversified elements to the city. In the context of advocating the improvement of land use efficiency in first- and second-tier cities, the upgrading and renewal of existing buildings has become an issue that cannot be ignored. The renovated old city space not only provides a richer and diversified space for residents and target customers, but also enhances the functional value of urban areas and can also drive the development of other related industries. As the old city has a certain location and cultural advantage, with the gradual improvement of the old city space and the intervention of new elements, it has attracted more diversified people to participate, and further enhanced the city’s population concentration and carrying capacity . The new and transformed old city space has rapidly grown into a regional functional center. For example, the well-known Xintiandi, 800 Show, Bund Source, Sinan Mansion, Shanghai Museum of Glass, No. 8 Bridge, etc. all bear certain social responsibilities and obligation. Just like, the Shanghai Museum of Glass was honored to be nominated for the European Pioneer Architecture Design Award. This issue will introduce you to some old city renovation spaces completed by logon and have a positive impact on society and communities.
Located in the former French Concession in the center of Shanghai, it was transformed from the abandoned former Shanghai Space Administration 808 Institute. Culture, art, leisure, office, bar, catering, exhibitions and other multi-functions are spread around the central pedestrian courtyard, with a pleasant scale, forming a lifestyle park with the courtyard as the center. Here, events of various sizes are often held, and the popularity is very high. Since the completion of the project, it has affected the lifestyle and commercial value of the surrounding neighborhoods with a very positive radiation. It often becomes a meeting place for fashionable young people on weekends.
It is transformed from a dozen old buildings scattered across 3 factories in the original life science park. In recent years, it has attracted many small and medium-sized enterprises engaged in green and healthy lifestyles, and it is the "Eco Vally" in Shanghai. The layout of the existing buildings is dense and intricate. In the renovation design, the shortcomings are transformed into advantages, and the scenery is different. The buildings are connected through several new narrow and long pedestrian bridges, and several high and low spaces are formed. They are either sky gardens or air activity spaces. Apart from leisure, literary and artistic youths are keen to explore green and healthy lifestyles here.
Close to the core business district of West Nanjing Road, at the intersection of Xinzha Road and North Shaanxi Road. The site of the original Dutch Design Center, the center of the fashion creative industry. An old factory composed of 11 buildings was transformed into an old factory. The building surrounds a long and narrow courtyard. The façades of the buildings side by side are like decorative fragments surrounding the courtyard of the "living room". Sometimes it is an open glass curtain wall, but sometimes it is retained. The facade of the industrial-style factory building is sometimes mottled walls covered with ivy, sometimes it is the petty bourgeoisie of the 1930s... Each building after the transformation has its own unique style. The tall ceilings, atmospheric spaces, industrial windows and concrete structures create the strong industrial characteristics of the park. The green vegetation that can be seen everywhere in the decorative fragments of the "living room" has turned it into a peaceful and quiet garden in the noisy city center.
